[edit]From Middle Dutch mimeren, from Old Dutch *mīmrōn, from Proto-Germanic *mīmrōną (“to think, have in mind, care for”), from Proto-Indo-European *mer-, *smer- (“to fall into thought, remember, care for”). Cognate with Old English mimorian (“to remember, keep in mind”). More at remember.
