[edit]Borrowed from Medieval Latin lazur (“lapis lazuli; azure”), from Arabic لَازُوَرْد (lāzuward, “lapis lazuli; azure”), from Persian لاجورد (lâjvard, “lapis lazuli; azure”).[1] Compare German Lasur (“glaze”).
