[edit]From Ottoman Turkish قیصمق (ḳısmaḳ, “to catch, to pinch, to fold, to crease, to be stingy with money”),[1] from Proto-Turkic *kïs- (“to squeeze, to restrain, to constrict, to limit the freedom of”),[2] morphologically kıs- + -ın + -tı.
