- A type of mulled wine from German-speaking countries made from red wine with cinnamon and other herbs and spices.
- 1929, Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms, Folio Society, published 2008, page 284:
- we sat inside warmed by the stove and drank hot red wine with spices and lemon in it. They called it glühwein and it was a good thing to warm you and to celebrate with.
