esfachar

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Galician

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Unknown. The possibilities include:

  • A possible Vulgar Latin *exfaciāre, from ex- + faciēs + -āre (literally "deface"), whence Italian sfacciare and Old French esfacier. This, however, would not explain the Galician word's /tʃ/ (the expected result would have been *esfaçar).
