enfezar

Portuguese

Etymology

[edit]

Unknown; sometimes connected to īnfēnsāre (to destroy). Folk etymology relates the term to fezes (feces) (as in a derivation from en- +‎ fez +‎ -ar), such that enfezado would have originally meant “constipated”, but this is unsupported.
