[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *dikъ, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰiHkos. Cognate to Lithuanian dỹkas, Latvian dīks, Proto-Albanian *dīkā, possibly to Ancient Greek σίκα (síka, “pig”) (Laconian dialect).
