cephalization (countable and uncountable, plural cephalizations)

  1. (biology) An evolutionary trend in which the neural and sense organs become centralized at one end (the head) of an animal.
  2. (medicine) The redistribution of blood flow from the base of the lung towards the upper lobe vessels as a consequence of pulmonary venous hypertension, usually described on a chest radiograph.
