[edit]Etymology
[edit]Shortened from bánh vú bò (“cow udder cake”) < bánh (“cake”) + vú bò (“cow udder”) < vú (“breast”) + bò (“cow”).
According to a popular folk etymology, this term instead comes from bánh + bò (to crawl), referring to how the cake "crawls" up to the rim of the bowl when steamed to completion.
