Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آز بوچوق[1] or آز بچوق (az buçuḳ),[2][3] from آز (az) and بچق or بچوق or بوچوق (buçuḳ),[4][5] equivalent to az (little, few) +‎ buçuk (half), literally a little and a half.
