[edit]From Ottoman Turkish اڭ آزدن (eñ azdan),[1][2] from اڭ (eñ) and آز (az),[3][4] equivalent to en (superlative particle) + az (“little, few”) + -ı (possessive suffix) + -(n)dan (ablative suffix with "n" as buffer consonant), literally “from the littlest/fewest”.
