[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آرا صره (ara ṣıra),[1][2] from آرا or آره (ara) and صره (ṣıra),[3][4] equivalent to ara (“space, place between two things, interval”) + sıra (“line, order, sequence, turn”).
