Pictures
[edit]Hi,
Please remember not to use |right| nor |160px| on Wiktionary; only |thumb| and a caption. Thanks for the pictures.
Also, see {{projectlinks}}
for the newer approach to inter-project links. Saves a bit of space and makes that formatting a lot easier.

- Thank you very much for the advices. :) I read Wiktionary picture instructions again and understood them now better. I may have interest in discussing about image sizes, or joining if there ever starts a discussion. :) Best regards Rhanyeia 15:10, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- Honestly, it hasn't come up much. Nouns pretty much should have pictures, but verbs and adjectives usually can't have a helpful image. Since the image is supposed to be just a thumbnail, the placement depends on what skin you have set in Special:Preferences, and the size of the thumbnail is also specified there. The only exceptions I know of so far, are the images at the top of WT:BP, WT:TR and WT:GP...and even those might get changed as they set a bad example.
- There was talk of someone starting a sign language subproject, but that never got off the ground. I don't know if thumbnails would suffice for those or not, but if I had to guess, I'd think much larger images would be needed. (Maybe not?) --Connel MacKenzie 15:29, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
See [[User:Ruakh/Template]] for a version that can be indented using :, *, and #, and that does not break numbering. —RuakhTALK 01:35, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! :) Your code looks great. I hope it's fine I'll go on with that. Best regards Rhanyeia 14:00, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi Rhanyeia, could you link to the subpages of User:Rhanyeia/quotation thereat please? † ﴾(u):Raifʻhār (t):Doremítzwr﴿ 12:11, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, do you mean to make links on User:Rhanyeia/quotation? And you are welcome to edit it too. :) Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 12:44, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, that is indeed what I meant. I’ll probably take you up on the offer of editing your user subpage; let me know if I do so over-assertively! † ﴾(u):Raifʻhār (t):Doremítzwr﴿ 21:07, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok. :) Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 11:56, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
BP table enclosure
[edit]Hi, Rhanyeia. Why did you add the following to the end of WT:BP#More logo conversation?
<!-- :) messages above this please --> {| align=left |
It wraps the rest of BP in a table. Why? Rod (A. Smith) 19:21, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- It was just the only thing that came to my mind how to get the next conversation to start after the pictures. :) I was going to remove it later when the upper conversation would become longer. There are probably much better ways to accomplish the same, but on my screen it looked fine. :) Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 19:41, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ah. OK. I converted it to <br clear="both"/>. Is that OK? Rod (A. Smith) 19:54, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you very much. :) Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 20:56, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for telling me about the logo. Frankly, I prefer the original version, which is also preferable for legal reasons. They cannot be confused with Scrabble tiles (except in the Vietnamese wiktionary: they added a photo of Scrabble tiles... They should remove it). A vote should include this original version. I am aware that no logo will ever get a consensus, but a vote would clarify things (results at the French wiktionary were rather surprising). Lmaltier 21:21, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. :) I think the original version looks good on French Wiktionary. That is almost certainly going to the vote, but I'd still like to use some time to find another one too. It would be great to find a version with colors which both those who like the original, and those who don't want the tiles to resemble Scrabble could support. I think the tiles of the original do resemble Scrabble some, but is that a problem I don't know. As for the legal issue, if we decided of some variety here, we'd need to ask Wikimedia if they liked it before starting to use it. If they said no we just wouldn't use it, and if they said yes I guess there wouldn't be legal problems. Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 16:54, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

- After some talk page conversations I feel it's too early to start a vote of the tile logo. Of course anyone is free to start the vote, but I'm not doing it unless there's a clearer idea about everything. :) Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 12:59, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- If you mean that a new logo cannot get a consensus, you're right, of course. A consensus is impossible, whatever the logo (including the current one...). Lmaltier 18:49, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- That's not what I mean, more like that there's too much confusion in general. :) Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 13:53, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Wiktionary logo
[edit]My email doesn't seem to be getting through, so I'll copy my reply here:
Thanks for the links. However, this issue came up before, and the last time, Japanese Wiktionary users decided that they were fine with using Shi (the current letter), given that the first letter of Wiktionary in Japanese is not ウ but ウィ, which is considered one letter (using just ウ would look as odd to Japanese users as using V instead of W, as you'd only have half a letter), but is too wide to fit on a tile. You can see the discussion (in Japanese) here: [1] , or a summary (in English) here: Meta:Talk:Wiktionary/logo. Thanks, Smurrayinchester 23:25, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the links. :) I've looked at them through as well as I could, partly with an automatic translator. In the Japanese discussion ウィ (Ui) seems to have had more support than シ (Shi). To find out if it can be fitted on a tile I've edited a png image, but I don't wish to upload it because it's too clumsy for that. I'll send it to you and I try to reach a Japanese editor "Electric goat" who participated the past discussion and seems to be active to get his opinion. At least they would get a favicon if it was created as svg. Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 19:04, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think the problem is at my end - neither address works. Anyway, there's a version at Image:WiktionaryEn3.svg with the changed letter - if it goes down well, I can change the Japanese logo to this format. I've also uploaded a favicon version which doesn't look as bad as I thought it would (unfortunately, favicons can't be SVGs, so it's a png instead - Image:WiktJapaneseFav.png). Smurrayinchester 19:41, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. :) It's beautiful, but the proportions of the letters would need to be fixed slightly: ィ has to be clearly less tall than ウ, otherwise it becomes ウイ. Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 10:52, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- I tried a draft. If you Electric goat find your way here, could you comment the Japanese letters on this draft and give me advices if I can still make them better please? Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 17:02, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you Smurrayinchester for editing the picture, and thank you Electric goat for the message on your meta talk page. I've written about this here on meta. Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 15:34, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Other userboxes
[edit]I didn't know of this policy, sorry.
I thought a user box about Wikimedia would be ok, but I'll follow all rules.
You might want to know that you managed to edit my page in the few seconds between my looking at the page and the source, and I was puzzled to what had happend to the user box source, which I needed somewhere else!!! Or you might not want to know it... just an odd occurrence.
--Lou Crazy 18:44, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- I wasn't bothered about the box, :) but there has been a vote about userboxes. Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 11:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Translation Bars
[edit]Hi Rhanyeia, I'll copy the CSS from your monobook.css into the MediaWiki style sheets so people can see how it looks, can you just make sure that they're how you want them first, in case you've changed something to test it. Conrad.Irwin 15:34, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ok. :) It could go as it is now, the size has not been changed but I have not decided what I think would be the best with it, and I believe it's better first try only the place. Best regards Rhanyeia♥♫ 15:45, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Logo
[edit]Seeing as you were one of the most active with the logo, do you think it is worth trying to run a new vote on meta, or will it die a similar apathetic death? (We'd need to check with the other wiktionaries first too of course ;) Conrad.Irwin 15:34, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think it would be more realistic to try to change the colors of the tile logo image so that it wouldn't resemble Scrabble. To have a whole new meta vote about everything would be complicated because there are Wiktionaries which are already using it, and because it has had a lot of support on a meta vote. Besides, some editors here have asked for more Wikimedia colors like blue, but because Wikimedia has asked not to use too much of those colors that means that any logo image would probably have to do without a lot of them. Maybe the one I'm linking here could become accepted. This doesn't mean that I wouldn't be open to other ideas too, but I recently read on meta that all language projects of the same project would be expected to use a similar image in their logo, and I personally think that the tile logo image would be good with different colors.
