[edit]Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.
If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:
- Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
- Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
- Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
- If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
- If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
- Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (
~~~~
) which automatically produces your username and timestamp. - You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.
Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! Rodrigo5260 (talk) 02:48, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
rollbacks
[edit]I reverted all of your "pre-1945 using AWB" edits that caused entries to show up in CAT:E, because they I don't think they'll work unless the module is updated to deal with them. I'm not sure how to fix the module, or even if it's a good idea. You should talk to @Benwing2. Thanks! Chuck Entz (talk) 20:25, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oops, I didn't realize our module wasn't equipped for that. Thanks. Polomo47 (talk) 20:28, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- What was the error and what is the issue? Benwing2 (talk) 20:33, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I see, yeah I'm not sure these sorts of changes are a good idea, especially since we don't have an entry for averigüar. Benwing2 (talk) 20:41, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I've meant to speak to you about this for a while. It's the fact the Portuguese verb module isn't equipped to handle verbs spelled according to pre-reform orthographic norms.
- The change I made was, in words such as adéque, to change
{{pt-verb form of|adequar}}
to{{pt-verb form of|adeqüar}}
, and that broke things. The module also can't handle verbs with mid-word h like cahir. - We could talk better about this on Discord. @MedK1 also has some thoughts about it; see Talk:adheriríeis. Polomo47 (talk) 20:41, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure averigüar is even correct; I think in the pre-1996 orthography, it was still averiguar, and the diaeresis only showed up in güe and qüe sequences. Benwing2 (talk) 20:46, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oops, yeah, I was definitely wrong on those edits, then. Polomo47 (talk) 20:49, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- But yeah, anyway, there's some things to look at on the Portuguese verb modules. Polomo47 (talk) 20:50, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
