Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to one of the discussion rooms or ask me on my Talk page.

Did you know that Wiktionary can be adapted to fit your style? Go have a look at your personal preference page (nicknamed “PREFS”)! In particular, you can choose the option to show hidden categories, which will be of great help if you are looking for work to do.

Again, welcome! --Ivan Štambuk 19:23, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey :D Yes, I'm a Wikiholic in a way (who else would be on a wiki Saturday night 8 PM ^_^).. It's good that you've registered a nickname, because in that way you greatly facilitate potential communication regarding your edits. Lots of "established" folks around here actually use full name...unusually many compared to other wikiprojects. Maybe if you stay a bit longer you'll come to realize by yourself how addicting Wiktionary can be :D All words in all languages..the idea is ingenious! --Ivan Štambuk 19:41, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Maybe it would be better sometimes to spend the time on other things? Development in different ways is often a good thing.

However, the idea of Wiktionary is really attractive. It really helps me with English. Oh God, this language is very simple, and at the same time as hard as it only can be! How can English (people) think without confusing, I wonder.. I know French, too. (Le français - c`est super!) As someome great said: "You are a human as many times as many languages you know."

Of course it would..proper mental discipline requires regular alternation of activities..flux is crux! :D Natural languages are almost as fun as programming languages. English is very beautiful indeed (the only Germanic language I can stomach!). Imagine would it look like if global lingua franca was to become Russian, Mandarin or Hindi.. Oh, the horror! --Ivan Štambuk 20:02, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Absolute truth. But, more specifically, every language is beautiful as it is. The nature is the most excellent creator. (And English has been actually simplified during the last two centuries. This is what I meant yesterday. The High English is hard to learn. ; Hmm, it`s just the thing with cases and declension and rules.. This is a hard point of Russian. But it is possible to learn that, I think. Eh?) Ye Olde Medecine Shoppe 16:15, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
