• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.

• Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
• If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
• If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.

老撾, 寮國, 萬象, 永珍

Hi, I have noticed that you've made some edits to these entries. I wanted to remind you that we are not just concerned with official usage, so the outright removal of all those labels for Singapore and Malaysia might not reflect reality of usage in these areas. 抱歉，我直接长话短说，就我所知，寮(國)及永珍，目前仅仅是台湾用语及过时用语，反而老挝及万象才是大多数地区标准汉语的标准用词，我想目前我在国内（两岸三地），并偶尔会读到新马华语文章，国内及新马华语使用情况，我应该比任何北美及其他亚太区以外的人都再清楚不过了，如有冒犯，不好意思。 Nkywvuong (talk) 09:14, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

Sunquat

If I found a word in, say, Lithuanian that made perfect sense semantically as the derivation of the word, would I be justified in insisting that was the origin, even though there was no indication that the coiner of the word knew Lithuanian at all? While it's true that the ancestry of the parent plants and the word "kumquat" itself derive from China, that doesn't mean that the newly coined name had any Chinese connection at all. Just FYI: in US culture, citrus are associated with warm and sunny climates, so English sun would be perfectly normal as an element in citrus names. See Sunkist Growers, Incorporated, for example.
