Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to one of the discussion rooms or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --Connel MacKenzie 08:22, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good one! I'd forgotten it. Thanks. DCDuring 17:54, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem. That's what so great about a wiki! /Natox 12:12, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

hinder

[edit]

Happy New Year! When you have a moment, could you please add Swedish translations to the entry for hinder? Do watch out for edit conflicts, though, since I'm asking several folks for help with this. --EncycloPetey 20:22, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sure, I'll look over it in a minute. And a happy new year to you too./Natox 20:40, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

ударить

[edit]

You defined this verb as "to strike", but you didn't explain which sense of "strike" was meant. Did you mean "to hit, beat"; did you mean "to cease work as a union action"; or did you mean "to mark through with a line"? --EncycloPetey 19:15, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know actually, I looked the word up in a Russian dictionary and it just said "strike", and I thought it was a better explaination than non. /Natox 19:23, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's one reason that we discourage people from adding words from languages they don't know or from other dictionaries. We also discourage adding content found by looking in other dictionaries because it can lead to copyright violation. It just better all around if you can add words from some first-hand knowledge. --EncycloPetey 01:03, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry. I'm trying to learn Russian, that's one reason for me adding the entry, but I see your point and will stop entering entries in languages I'm not entirely sure of. /Natox 14:13, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I added some explanations that the Russian wiktionary uses as translations. Def. 2 in strike also has the translation ударить in Russian. /Natox 19:30, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, sorry, I was copying the Support tag and must have slipped on the keys. /Natox 18:20, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's sort of what I figured. Just thought I'd mention it so I could laugh at you. -Atelaes λάλει ἐμοί 18:30, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good for you :D /Natox 18:31, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
