Hey - don't I know you from somewhere?
[edit]http://www.online-literature.com Welcome!

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --Versageek 05:15, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Howdy
[edit]You look mighty familiar to me, too. Welcome to the other side :)
and please don't hesitate to ask me if you have questions or need something administrated. I'll either pretend to know the answer or try to point you in the direction of somebody who does. Happy editing! --Dvortygirl 07:46, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Quotes
[edit]Yep, the quotes look fine to me. You might, in your comments, choose to call them "citations" or "quotations", but only because it's shorter. There really aren't any requirements about comments. Incidentally, patrolled edits in Wikt are turned on only for admins. Not everything always gets patrolled, but hey. --Dvortygirl 04:42, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Please note that we do not italicize quotations. Only fabricated example sentences are italicized. Quotes taken from published sources are not. --EncycloPetey 07:05, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, EncycloPetey. That is good to know, and I will follow that from now on. By the way, I am seeing that quotes are done in several kinds of formats across the site. I just lifted my format from someone else's. Is there one format which is preferred over another? If not I will just keep using the one I am using.KnowItSome 19:42, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- There are variations, and some formats are preferred over others. The only recommendations I have concerning your format are (1) Don't use a colon after the date. Most people prefer either a comma or an emdash. (2) If the source text exists on Wikisource, then it's better to link to the text itself there rather than to the Wikipedia article about the source text. However, if the text itself is not on Wikisource, then a Wikipedia link is certainly a good idea. --EncycloPetey 20:06, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

The quote you added to furnish was actually an instance of the adjective furnished, because the word was not being used as a verb in the quotation. --EncycloPetey 04:07, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- Good point. Thanks for the note explaining the undo. KnowItSome 04:12, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- The quote could still be very useful for furnished, whose entry currently has no quotations at all. --EncycloPetey 04:17, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
