Transwiki

[edit]

Transwiki is a process that is run by a bot that copies the page history; when something is tagged in the 'pedia it shows up here eventually in the Transwiki namespace e.g. Transwiki:Scansorial, with its history. Please don't do it manually! ;-) Not that there is much of a history in this case ... Robert Ullmann 04:41, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

What is the template tag? If I use the {{transwiki}} (on Wikipedia) it says "The contents of this page and the page's history have been moved to Transwiki: via the transwiki system; all future edits should go there. This page is now proposed for deletion.", but I have not moved them, so I am stuck trying to figure out what to do. I tried to read the page http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Transwiki but it didn't make sense. Jeepday 00:14, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome!

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --Connel MacKenzie 05:59, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

stubs

[edit]

My two cents:

Note that we try to avoid {{stub}}, in favor of the plethora of other cleanup tags, like {{wikify}}. Adding a language level-two heading and a part-of-speech third level heading is usually a really good start; {{substub}} if it needs a definition.

LOL, thanks for the advice :) I am more of Wikipedian than a Wiktionarian different worlds, different styles. Mostly I just come here to copy and paste stuff from Wikipedia that is about to get deleted there. I will try the wikify tag next time. Jeepday 00:05, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

trierarchy

[edit]
Please don't do that, you should tag them for transwiki so that the edits to the page can be attributed to the 'pedia editors correctly. In a similar vein, definitions like those you gave for trierarchy must be given attribution to 'pedia, as they are direct quotes. Conrad.Irwin 20:26, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

How can a tax not be a debt before it is fully paid? Diff. The liturgy is for a year so that debt remains until the duty is completed. See wikipedia:Trierarchy where I am the "pedia editor" Jeepday 04:26, 8 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Firstly sorry. I didn't read your talk page properly or the history of the article at all. Secondly, can I please ask you, next time you are around, to have a look at the changes I have made to the entry. Yours Conrad.Irwin 16:04, 9 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Your changes look good, I would include something about the liturgy (the Wiktionary description needs more see Wikipedia:Liturgy#Etymology) as the trierarchy is a duty as well as an expense. In todays world it would be like the US government going up to Bill Gates and saying instead of paying taxes in cash this year, you will command an aircraft carrier, and be responsible for finding someone else to command two more aircraft carriers, also you will pay all the maintenance and operation costs out of your pocket.
