A small request
[edit]Hey, thanks for the additions. When you add new words, can you organize them by the derived term, not just alphabetically? You can see the difference on jechać, where for example I put nadojeżdżać under dojeżdżać. Thanks! Vininn126 (talk) 09:45, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
Vulgarisms
[edit]Have you seen none of my corrections? Or do you not give a fuck? Vininn126 (talk) 16:56, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- You also aren't checking sources. You're being too prudent. Please be more careful. If you're unsure of a translation see
{{rfeq}}
. Vininn126 (talk) 17:00, 22 June 2024 (UTC)- Ah, okay, I didn't see your corrections, sorry. The Wikipedia notifications aren't really visible if I don't intentively watch for them. I don't agree with some of your actions, especially with the edit on "popierdalać" - you said I must check the sources and meanwhile added a PWN source with an empty link, as that word is not present there. Welp, what can I say, as a native Polish speaker I think about my understanding of the word as being pretty competent. The sources thing is not really possible in the case of vulgarisms, as dictionaries don't really bother with similar stuff - you can see it on your own example of the word "popierdalać". But if you think I'm wrong, and that's not the case, you should also delete most of the definitions in the words like jebać, jebnąć, pierdolić, pierdolnąć and so on, I suppose.
- Overall didn't think that editing Wiktionary is that difficult. Sorry for problems it caused. That's all I have to say. Asank neo (talk) 17:20, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- The PWN link is for the corpus. I'm not sure how my other pings didn't make it through to you. Being a native speaker doesn't mean your understanding is correct. Vininn126 (talk) 17:22, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- I saw the link to the corpus, but it's not a direct link - the landing page itself says that there are no results and encourages to check the corpus. But who knows, maybe it's ok according to Wiktionary rules, idk. What's more this corpus text "…no bo co mogli mnie, przyjezdnemu bez żadnych znajomości, dać za robotę... musiało się popierdalać na mopie... Myślałem, że spalę się ze wstydu…" is the only one there with that word, the meaning of it is unclear. Therefore it is of no value as a source for that particular meaning. I would say it's even against it, because, I suppose, the guy wasn't a witch to move "na mopie" like "na miotle". If he wanted to say "move with a mop quickly" he would say "popierdalać z mopem". So it's clearly meaning of "working", like "pracować na portierni", "pracować na zmywaku". That's only confirming the sources thing I said. The WSJP didn't care to list that meaning even. Asank neo (talk) 17:39, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- The corpus is there to provide quotes indirectly.
- As far as WSJP is concerned, it only proves my point. WSJP has quotes. There are other sources for vulgarisms. And quotes. You checked none of those, and didn't see my changes to etymology. Don't trust your instincts. Vininn126 (talk) 17:50, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I checked the PWN link after you provided it. Didn't think it's necessary to provide sources for common words - for example none of this is expected when adding Polish translations of an English word, as far as I know. I was adding them many times. It's a bit strange. What's more long time ago I created a long list of new meanings for a lot of vulgarisms, I think dozens, as they are interesting to me from a linguistic point of view, and even added some new ones, without providing any sources to any of that, and after you even thanked me for it the previous subject:) Life is not so simple, as I see.
- I didn't say there are no sources - I say the sources are not complete as for vulgarisms. By that I don't question the fact that WSJP proves the meaning of moving fast. Asank neo (talk) 18:05, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- "Didn't think it's necessary to provide sources for common words" see WT:CFI. If you don't know these, you can't edit. Vininn126 (talk) 18:08, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Also in theory we should double check these old entries of yours. Vininn126 (talk) 18:09, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
