• Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.

Hi, can I ask for your source on changing เครื่อง etymology from being Middle Khmer cognate to being Middle Khmer descendant? Just curious because there's also Ahom cognate. Thriftypapaya (talk) 17:17, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Sorry, it's my fault. I didn't see that there are Ahom, Shan, Lü, etc, which make the Khmer origin less possible. --21janvier1793 (talk) 17:25, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

I don't think the verb and the conjunction have a common origin. While the conjunction has Northern Thai and Lao cognates, for which I will create entries this month, at least one dictionary claims that the Lao verb is borrowed from Thai, and the Northern Thai verb looks rather restricted.
