@Arthur botelho, Stríðsdrengur, Trooper57: It does not seem to be directly attested, at least in Old Tupi. I am not certain about the Línguas Gerais / General Languages. Navarro's source (Sousa, Trat. Descr., 265) only mentions îu'iperereka. In Guarani, there is a supposed cognate perere, but its meaning seems to align more closely with the Nheengatu piririka, whose etymology Avila claims to be from Old Tupi piririk (despite the existence of the historical variant perereca). @RodRabelo7. Não achei nada nos dicionários de língua geral (botei todos no apêndice se quiser ver). Na tal fonte nem diz o que significa "îu'iperereka", o Navarro só inventou essa etimologia mesmo. Depois ainda quer falar do Teodoro Sampaio...

Acho melhor a gente apagar e mudar a etimologia de îu'iperereka, a coisa mais próxima que eu achei nas outras línguas tupis-guaranis foi o Urubú-Kaapor pererek (“mandioca branca”). Trooper57 (talk) 15:34, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
