Rfv-sense: (Min Nan) zongzi (in general). — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 07:56, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- My understanding is that it only refers to zongzi with meat fillings, not all zongzi, but I may be wrong. And in Singapore, we only use it to refer to the traditional Hokkien and Teochew styles too; it's not used to refer to Nyonya-style dumplings, which are instead called 娘惹粽. - @The dog2: I think you're right. Definitions from various Min Nan dictionaries (emphasis mine):

- A dictionary of Southern Min (Embree): small packet of meat and rice (wrapped in a leaf and steamed, cf ké-chàng)
- Maryknoll Taiwanese-English Dictionary: glutinous rice pastry stuffed with meat and wrapped in bamboo leaves, then steamed or boiled
- Chinese-English dictionary of vernacular or spoken language of Amoy (Douglas, under tsàng): that confection made of rice and pork.
- 闽南方言大词典 (only has 燒肉粽 as an entry, just an excerpt of a longer definition): 烧肉粽的选料很讲究,不但糯米要精选,连香菇、虾米、栗子、猪肉都要精选。
- Penang Hokkien Dictionary (bak1cang3): meat dumpling
- They all agree that meat is an essential ingredient in 肉粽. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 17:55, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- In that case, we should just delete this sense then. The dog2 (talk) 18:08, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
