@კვარია, Vogt derives the Armenian from Georgian which I find attractive. Acharyan, Vogt and Schmidt connect this Georgian word with დალორწეუბული, დალორტება (dalorc̣eubuli, dalorṭeba, to moisten). I also note ლორტყვი (lorṭq̇vi, slimy). The წ ~ ტ alternation within Kartvelian can be expressive in nature (see Neisser). The forms with a ტ are possibly borrowed again as Old Armenian լորտու (lortu, a kind of snake), Armenian լորտնուկ (lortnuk, slug). --Vahag (talk) 15:27, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Where did you find ლორტყვი (lorṭq̇vi)?
For Old Armenian լորտու (lortu, grass snake), compare Georgian ლორტუკი (lorṭuḳi, id.) (formed with -უკ- (-uḳ-, affectionate diminutive suffix)). That word is also apparently recorded as ლორთული (lortuli)
Also is Georgian () ~ Old Armenian ձ (j) normal? კვარია (talk) 20:18, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I misspelled it. I meant ლირტყვი (lirṭq̇vi) in Ghlonti, also ლერტყი (lerṭq̇i). Georgian ლორთქო (lortko, freshly sprouted, young twigs) and Old Armenian լորտ (lort, lazy, sluggish) also look similar.
Acharyan knows ლორტუკი (lorṭuḳi) and derives from Armenian.
I would expect ծ (c) from (). --Vahag (talk) 21:17, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I also expected a ծ (c). All of the reshapings discussed above are possible, but why do we even need to discuss them? The current Georgian and Laz terms are enough to be linked together კვარია (talk) 06:17, 25 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
