Talk:корень
Add topic@Benwing2: Hi. The botanical (medical, culinary) sense has also the plural forms коре́нья (korénʹja), which is currently missing. Should we use an override or a specific template for that? Sorry, I forgot. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 05:40, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Benwing2: I've rewritten коре́нья (korénʹja) based on your suggestion. It kind of fits both - a separate lemma and just a plural form with a special meaning, depends how you view it. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 10:41, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Atitarev I think what you did in коре́нья (korénʹja) is fine. Note that Zaliznyak lists many plurals in -ья as separate lemmas, notated "мн. <с 6*a(2)>" (which means he considers them to be plural-only neuter with an irregular genitive plural in -ев). Some are labeled собир. (collective). This specifically includes:
- отре́бья (otrébʹja)
- объе́дья (obʺjédʹja)
- у́голья (úgolʹja) (labeled в очаге, в костре — собир.)
- дреко́лья (drekólʹja)
- надкры́лья (nadkrýlʹja) (labeled as мн. от с 6*a, which seems to indicate that he views this as the actual plural of надкры́лье (nadkrýlʹje) rather than a separate lemma; but he has no entry for надкры́лье (nadkrýlʹje))
- каме́нья (kaménʹja) (labeled as собир.)
- коре́нья (korénʹja)
- отре́пья (otrépʹja)
- хло́пья (xlópʹja)
- охло́пья (oxlópʹja)
- лохмо́тья (loxmótʹja)
- стру́чья (strúčʹja)
When the corresponding singular of one of these terms exists, it seems that the form in -ья is not given as a plural; instead the entry has a "see also" notation pointing to the lemma in -ья (e.g. for у́голь (úgolʹ), ка́мень (kámenʹ) and ко́рень (kórenʹ)). Sometimes, however, the plural in -ья is given as the actual plural of the corresponding singular, rather than as a separate lemma. Some examples I could find are де́рево (dérevo), брат (brat) and кол (kol, “pole”) (not in the meaning "F (failing grade)"). Not sure whether you agree with this; note that ruwikt views e.g. коре́нья as a plural form of ко́рень rather than a separate lemma. Benwing2 (talk) 03:46, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Benwing2: Thank you for looking into this. I'm fine with both options - 1) having the pluralia tantum as separate lemmas and having them as related terms or 2) inside the inflection tables (if a singular form exists) with a label. ко́рень (kórenʹ)/коре́нья (korénʹja) is now presented a little better than ка́мень (kámenʹ)/каме́нья (kaménʹja) with a bit of redundancy. The former covers both views on how who considers them as separate lemmas or as special plural/collective forms.
- I've just created надкры́лья (nadkrýlʹja) and стру́чья (strúčʹja). --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 04:10, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
