Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *telktei, from Proto-Indo-European *telk- (“to thrust, strike”). Cognate with Lithuanian tìlkti (“to be tame”), Latvian nuôtalcît, Proto-Celtic *tolkos (“an attack, tear”).
