[edit]Inherited from Proto-Balto-Slavic *stulpas / *stulbas, from Proto-Indo-European *stl̥-p-ós / *stl̥-bʰ-ós, from *stel-. Doublet of *stъlbъ. Cognates include Lithuanian stul̃pas, stul̃pa, Latvian stùlps.
