Reconstruction:Proto-Germanic/laubą
Appearance
Proto-Germanic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Differing explanations:
- From Proto-Indo-European *lewbʰ- (“to break, flake or peel off, shed; rind, leaf”).
- From pre-Germanic *lowpóm, perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *lewp- (“to bend, peel, tear, damage”).[1]
The connection, if any, between these two roots is unknown.
