[edit]Etymology
[edit]Perhaps a Sino-Vietnamese word from 歸仁, literally "to return to humanity/compassion/benevolence", with the Central-Southern reading of the second character. An earlier name was 懷仁/怀仁 (Hoài Nhơn), with a similar literal meaning. Another interpretation is a Sino-Vietnamese word from 歸人 (“a returner; a person who returns”) (SV: Quy Nhơn).
