[edit]-mus (front vowel harmony variant -mys, linguistic notation -mUs)
- Forms nouns from verbs. Variant of -us used with verbs of conjugation type 61 (sallia), and those verbs in types 52 (sanoa) and 53 (muistaa) whose stem consists of at most two syllables
- Forms names for people and things from stems.
Usage notes
[edit]When attached to verbs ending in the derivational affix -utua / -ytyä, the -tu- / -ty- is elided (e.g. sitoutua + -mus → sitoumus instead of sitoutumus, which may be found in older language).
