Old Armenian

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Probably from the stem vowel -a- + Proto-Indo-European *-k(o)- suffix. The -ք- (-kʻ-) in ներքին (nerkʻin), ներքոյ (nerkʻoy) is probably of the same origin. Compare -ոք (-okʻ), հերիք (herikʻ).

Suffix

[edit]

-աք (-akʻ)

  1. A suffix found in թանաք (tʻanakʻ), սլաք (slakʻ) and probably արտաքին (artakʻin), արտաքս (artakʻs).
