[edit]Originally a double diminutive, from -и́ца (-íca) + -ка (-ka). Compare води́чка (vodíčka) with synonymous води́ца (vodíca); части́чка (častíčka), diminutive of части́ца (častíca, “fraction, particle”), originally itself a diminutive of часть (častʹ, “part, piece”); пти́чка (ptíčka), diminutive of пти́ца (ptíca, “bird”), etymologically a diminutive; etc.
