From Proto-Turkic *-den. Cognate with Kyrgyz -ден (-den), Turkish -den.

    көл (köl, a lake) + ‎-ден (-den) → ‎көлден (kölden, from a lake)

Usage notes

The suffix becomes -нан/-нен when the third person possessive suffix is added.

  • аяғы + -нан = аяғынан (from his/her leg)
