๐บ๐๐ฟ
Appearance
Hittite
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Usually analyzed as earlier *pe-(H)ai or *poi-(H)ai, from Proto-Indo-European *hโey- (โto give, takeโ) (compare Tocharian B ai- (โto give, pay outโ)) with the Hittite preverb ๐๐- (pรฉ-e- /โ pe-โ /). However, Kloekhorst rejects this and argues for an i-present *hโp-รณi-ei ~ *hโp-i-รฉnti, from *hโep- (โto seizeโ) (compare Sanskrit เคเคชเฅ (ฤp, โto reach, obtainโ)).[1]
Verb
[edit]๐บ๐๐ฟ โข (pฤi) (third-person present singular)
Usage notes
[edit]Beside syllabograms, the Sumerogram ๐ง (SUM) was also used.
