Sino-Korean word from 月 (“moon”) + 月 (“moon”) + 山 (“mountain”) + 山 (“mountain”). A visual pun based on 파자 (破字, paja, “splitting of a Chinese character into individual components”); the character 朋 (bung, “friend”) is equivalent to a horizontal duplication of 月 (wol, “moon”), and the character 出 (chul, “to leave”) appears almost identical to a vertical duplication of 山 (san, “mountain”).
