[edit]Phono-semantic matching of Lao ວຽງຈັນ (wīang chan). 萬象 literally means “ten thousand elephants”, analogous to 瀾滄/澜沧 (Láncāng, “Lan Xang”) which also means “million elephants” in Lao.
