Etymology

Derived as a shortening of the clause 気持(きも)(わる) (kimochi ga warui, literally the feeling is bad). Equivalent to a compound of 気持(きも) (kimochi, feeling) + (わる) (warui, bad).[1] Compare the development of 気味悪い (kimi warui).
