Usage notes
[edit]ᄒᆞ라체 is a speech level used to younger or lower-rank people. It is also used almost universally in books, newspapers, and magazines.
Jeju words inflected in this speech level are commonly characterized by the endings 다 (-da) in declarative statements, 냐/야 (-nya/-ya) & 니/이 (-ni/-i) in questions, 으라 (-eura) in the imperative, and in 자 (-ja) in the propositive. E.g.:
- ᄒᆞᆫ다 (hawnda): "does"
- ᄒᆞ냐/ᄒᆞ니 (hawnya/hawni): "does?"
- ᄒᆞ라 (hawra): "do" (command)
- ᄒᆞ자 (hawja): "Let's do!"
