[edit]From Old Georgian ძეწნი (ʒec̣ni, “willow”) + -ა (-a), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *ʒec̣₁n- / Proto-Kartvelian *ʒ₁ec̣₁(w)n- (“willow”). Cognate with Mingrelian ზიჭონი (zič̣oni). Svan ჭჷჭჷნდ (č̣əč̣ənd) is possibly borrowed from Mingrelian.[2][3]
