Particularly: “Not given etymology by STEDT (ôŋ "rest, remain still; lie dormant; hide"), and not mentioned by Luce 1981. Note a resemblance to Old Chinese (OC *qɯnʔ, *qɯns, “to hide, conceal”).

It is unclear if the "ram into" sense is etymologically connected to the "hide" sense, though MED groups them together.”
