Etymology

Derived from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *(k/g)la-k/y/t (to fall). Cognate with Mizo tla ~ tlâk (to fall) and Old Chinese (OC *ɡraːʔ, *ɡraːs, “lower; under; to go down”). Doublet of ချ (hkya.) (STEDT).
