Etymology

From หมอ (mɔ̌ɔ, “doctor”) +‎ กระเป๋า (grà-bpǎo, “bag”), literally “bag doctor”; believed to be from the fact that unlicensed practitioners of plastic surgery in Thailand were often seen walking around with a variety of surgical instruments in one briefcase.
