Etymology

From สังหาริม (“movable”) +‎ ทรัพย์ (sáp, “thing; property”); calque of English movable property.

Probably first used on 11 November 1923, when the first book of the Civil and Commercial Code of Thailand was promulgated.

   • 1992, พระราชบัญญัติให้ใช้บทบัญญัติบรรพ ๑ แห่งประมวลกฎหมายแพ่งและพาณิชย์ที่ได้ตรวจชำระใหม่ พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๕:

     มาตรา ๑๔๐ สังหาริมทรัพย์ หมายความว่า ทรัพย์สินอื่นนอกจากอสังหาริมทรัพย์ และหมายความรวมถึง สิทธิอันเกี่ยวกับทรัพย์สินนั้นด้วย
