From Proto-Southwestern Tai *raːᴬ² (“we two (inclusive)”). Cognate with Northern Thai ᩁᩣ, Khün ᩁᩣ, Lao ຮາ (hā), Lü ᦣᦱ (haa), Shan ႁႃး (háa), Tai Nüa ᥞᥣᥰ (häa), Ahom 𑜍𑜠 (ra), Zuojiang Zhuang raz.

Usage notes
