Etymology

From Pali bhāga (part; portion; fraction; share; etc); ultimately from Sanskrit भाग (bhāga, idem); probably via Old Khmer bhāga (luck, fortune; part, region, division, section; portion, lot; etc). Cognate with Modern Khmer ភាគ (phiək); Lao ພາກ (phāk); Burmese ဘက် (bhak).
