[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀩𑀁𑀥𑀇 (baṃdhaï), from Sanskrit बन्धति (bandhati). Cognate with Hindustani بان٘دْھْنا / बाँधना (bāndhnā), Gujarati બાંધવું (bā̃dhvũ), Marathi बांधणे (bāndhṇe), Punjabi ਬੰਨ੍ਹਣਾ (bannhṇā) / بَنّھݨا (bannhṇā), Sindhi ٻَنڌَڻُ / ॿंधणु, Sylheti ꠛꠣꠘ꠆ꠗꠣ (bandá), Assamese বন্ধা (bondha).
