[edit]Inherited from Old Gujarati रसवइ (rasavaï, “prepared dish”), from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀭𑀲𑀯𑀤𑀻 (rasavadī), from Sanskrit रसवती (rasavatī, “kitchen”), feminine of रसवत् (rasavat, “juicy”). Cognate with Bengali রসুই (rośui), Hindi रसोई (rasoī), Marwari रसोई (rasoī), and Odia ରସୋଇ (rasoi).
