    Inherited from Prakrit 𑀧𑀢𑁆𑀢 (patta), from Sanskrit पात्र (pā́tra), from Proto-Indo-European *péh₃-tlo-m (instrument for drinking), from *peh₃- (to drink). Doublet of પાત્ર (pātra).
