[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀚𑀼𑀢𑁆𑀢 (jutta, “joined”), from Sanskrit युक्त (yukta, “joined, yoked”) or युक्तक (yuktaka, “pair”). Cognate with Marathi जुती (jutī), Punjabi ਜੁੱਤਾ (juttā) / جُتّا (juttā), and Sindhi جُتيِ (jutī).
