[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑀼𑀁𑀘𑀺𑀬𑀸 (kuṃciyā), from Sanskrit कुञ्चिका (kuñcikā, “key”).
Cognates include Kachchi કૂંજી (kūñjī), Kashmiri کُنٛز (kunz), Marwari कूंची (kūñcī), Odia କୁଞ୍ଚି (kuñci), Punjabi کُن٘جِی/ਕੁੰਜੀ (kuṉjī), Saraiki کنجی (kuṉjī), and Sindhi ڪُنجيِ (kuñjī).
